.AVI to DVD format problem

Just so ye know I'm not a noob on stuff like this but I'm having a headwreck over this problem and just looking for advice. I have .avi files which consist of sizes of roughly 650 - 700MB and I'm having problems slapping 'em onto DVD format for playing in DVD players yada yada yada. Using Nero (Which I shouldn't be having problem with but, meh!) and I can't get this process to work. I always end up with "not enough room on disc" AFTER the lovely 1 & 1/2 hour conversion of the file despite having more than enough room on the disc BEFORE I start the process (The stats that show what space would be on the disc after burning). Possibly I'm missing something ridiculously simple here but I'd like to get some advice before I move onto my other methods which will probably end up being a pain in the ass. Cheers!

Have you tried convertxtodvd it converts and burns for ya in a few clicks and it automatically resizes so it can fit on a single or dual layer dvd disc.

It's a pay program but type it into google i think theres a free version of it floating about, make sure you have at least 10 gigs free on your harddisk before using it.

I found DVD Shrink to aid me immediately after I posted the thread so.......yea, I'm lazy. Cheers for the reply, I'll try that if all else fails. Space should be the least of my worries with the 600 gigs I got (well, okay more than half of that is used but I'd be doing well if I filled up the rest :p )
