hi, anyone here take the plunge and move to canada, or in the process of doing so.

i feel like i'm a bit of a rut here, i've a good well paid job, but think i need a change.

i'm a web designer, anyone know what the job situation is like over there, say somewhere like vancouver. do you need a job lined up before you head over?

also, if you wanted to stay after the year and get permanent residence, is that difficult?

You might be better off posting in the Region->Abroad section. Maybe folks there will have some info for you.

I'm in a similar situation myself, looked at Vancouver a few months back and it seems there's a huge glut of designers there and not enough jobs to go around. I quickly ruled it out. Beautiful part of the world though.

Canada, by all accounts is a tough place to get into, even with necessary skills. Oz would probably be a better bet for you.

I briefly considered Canada myself, a beautiful country with great people. Yes, I heard it was tough to get good work there even if qualified.

I work in Desktop/Network support. I found it quite easy to get a job here. It's more or less the same as what I was doing at home, money is a bit better.
I spent 3 weeks looking for a decent job.
Lot of IT opportunities in Vancouver. Most companies work through the recruitment agencies.
