Entitled to extra pay for working Sundays?

Does anyone know if someone would be entitled to extra pay/time in lieu for working Sundays if: They are working a 40 hour week where the shift could be mon-thurs or Fri-Mon (even though the contract says Mon-Fri 9-5pm)? They work weekends either one or two weekends per month depending on how their shift pattern falls.
