    this series is very good

RTE did a series like this this called seven ages but without narration, it was good

RTE should repeat Robert Kee's Ireland a tv history with extra episodes from the 1940s to the present about the history of the republic of ireland

I think the series is good but not brilliant. It's like 'drive-by' history (large impact but over quickly!) in my view. I find that each episode tries to cover too much so you only really get a brief overview of what was happening at the time.

Also, I'm not sure I like the way the episodes are being themed. Last nights 1970's episode discussed everything in relation to the background of violence in British society in the 1970's compared with the peace, love and harmony message of the 1960's. While everything they said was true the viewer was directed in such a way as to be left with the impression that Britain in the 1970's was about nothing more than violence.

I do like the series and don't want to sound overly-critical. I just wish that they didn't try to cover so-much in each episode. They never really do more than scratch the surface of events.

Agree about the way it skims the surface but then 10 years in 60 mins is always going to be impossible. Enjoyable series though, the 80s was a mad decade looking back. The UK had an extreme of everything, I guess Celtic Tiger Ireland is a 'lite' version of it but without the oil and gas revenues.
