Digital Camcorder Recommendation?

    Hi,
    Firstly, I hope I am on the right forum!!

    I am looking to buy a digital camcorder that either records onto an internal hd, or onto sd card.

    I want to back up all my video to an external hard disk essentially, so that I can edit it and look at it more regularly.

    Can someone recommend a camera. I know there are 3ccd ones out for over 1000, but are these really worth it for a "home" camcorder. I guess it will only be used for birthdays etc.. so maybe an hour or 2 a month.

    I do not really have a price limit, but obviously am going to spend a grand on a 3ccd model if single ccd for half the price is just as good.

    I've ordered one of these last week. Haven't received it yet (thank you UPS), but I just wanted something small and handy that I could edit movies on a PC instead of copying from tapes. Will let you know if it's any good as soon as I get my paws on it...
