Mods, if you feel this would be better off in Spirituality, do feel free to move it.

Anyway, I figured I'd post up this link to see what people thought of it: http://bps-research-digest.blogspot.com/2007/05/meditation-helps-us-make-most-of-our.html

I'm just after reading, and now I'm thinking to myself how this could be applied in a paranormal context, given at first glance it mightn't have any associations with the paranormal. Admittedly, I posted this in the beginning because I thought "meditation article, should post it to Paranormal!" weithout reading it, although by now I have. Although I'm now going to put forward this question: would you say, based on the information above that meditation could also help control your psychic abilities, or rather allow you to allow you to make more use of them, due to having more control of allocation of 'brain resources', to use the term in the article?

I am aware that people say that meditation does help with psychic ability, but I thought I'd put forward the question in relation to the above, although I'd appriciate an answer as to why you feel meditation improves (or doesn't) your abilities, independant of the above. As for giving my opinion, I haven't fully formed one yet, although I am thinking about it now. I'll be sure to give one eventually when I have something worth contributing.

Very confusing post but I cut it down to what I think you are asking, am I close?

You should try right the question like a Harvard style report ;)

Well, that's half the question... point is, the article states "Through mental training, increased control over the distribution of limited brain resources may be possible"[1]. With this in mind, do you think that meditation helps control psychic ability, or allow more use of it, because you're able to control the resources of your brain better, which means you're able to focus on it more? Note that the two of them are different; one implies direct control, the other implies less direct control. Coincidentally, I haven't read the proper article yet, and figured that the shorter one would be easy to draw conclusions from.

Does that work any better for you then? ;)

I use meditation as a KEY tool with psychic development.
The two main forms of meditation I use are the following:

Meditation in the pure form; where outside stimulii are removed and inner stillness and quietness are aimed for and possibly achieved. This can primarily remove/tune out the daily mind-noise so that focus can be solely on the task at hand, ie increasing psychic ability. This can also be used to focus the mind on study etc.

Sitting in spirit / active energy meditating; It can also take the form of an active visualisation which then manifests from within the mind into the real energy of the person and therefore 'opens up' the person depending on which guiding words are used. This opening up does allow for the communications from ones higher self/outside forces to become much clearer and easier.

The above, is just my experience and I'm sure there are many others that work for different people.
