Some $5/$10 hands - extracting value

    Hand 1:

Effective Stacks c. $700. You are UTG with KK and open to $35, next to act makes it $60 its folded back to me and I make it $130, villian pushes with QQ.

    Hand 2:

Effective Stacks $1k, You are in the SB with AdKd.

After 1 limper in the CO the Button makes it $50 to play. You repop it to $130. Button calls. (Pot $280)

    Flop Ah Kc 2h

Button has been very active preflop, raising in position nearly every time its folded to him and sometimes like this occasion after one limper. I have 3bet him a number of time and he has folded out. Postflop he hasnt been so active. Whats your plan for the hand to extract money?

    Hand 3:

Effective Stacks $1,200, you are in the SB with KK, same villian as in hand 2.

CO min raises to $20, Villian makes it $60 and I make it $180, everybody folds... comments?

In relation to hands 1 & 3 I am concerned that I am losing value with my big pairs by not getting somebody to see a flop with me. In hand 1 should I have just called his 3bet preflop rather than 4betting? Surely once I fourbet from UTG any rationale player will narrow my range to AA KK AK and accordingly dump QQ - Im rarely gonna get somebody to 5bet shove QQ. (obv the villian in this hand doesnt fall into this category). Similarly in hand 3 I probably got 88-QQ to fold out.

When oop I don't mind taking down the pot pre flop with the big pairs. If you have faith in your post flop abilities (even oop) and feel you can get away from flops like J85 when your beat, by all means, just call. I don't like having to make hard decisions post flop when first to act so I play hands 1+3 as you did.

Hand 2 - I think I check call here. Then make a small bet trying to represent a hand like KJ or QQ, one that is just looking to get to a showdown. If it works out, button will read your turn bet as weakness and reraise, in which case you can put it all in.
If the turn is a heart, that may complicate things. Would button bet flop with two hearts? If the turn's a heart, and you lead out, would he put you on a flush and fold? Even if he does put you on two hearts when the turn comes a heart, I probably still lead out even if it is likely he will fold. Can't win all the time!

I think these are all very basic spots. I like all of what Valor said.

    1. Raise more. You've effectively minraised.

    2. If villain is very aggro, I might be6t half pot here. Betting and checking are both fine though.

    3. Is standard.
