When you apply for a new passport do you get the old one back?
Also do you need the Guards signature for a renewal?

Newone comes back. The corner is often cut off so it can't be used again.

Get the passport forms from the post office, fill out, send away and thats it.

They didn't cut the corners of the old green hardback ones - just stamped "Withdrawn" or "Cancelled" on it (can't remember which). Mine is in the attic with a lovely picture of me aged 11!
