    Hi All,
I have my test on the 14th, i was just wondering about the condition of the interior of the car.
I drive my parents car at present, and my father works in the construction industry, so as you can imagine its a bit dirty inside, now i do intend on polishing it and hoovering it before i do the test, but, theres a few stains on the seats from some stuff that was spilt, now, i used upholstery cleaner on it a few months back and it cleaned it up a good bit, but its still noticeable, i was just wondering if you think i should get the car professionally valeted before the test?
Naturally enough i want to use our own car, as its the one i drive day in day out and no it better than i would any car i could get from a driving school etc., thats why im willing to have it valeted

I really wouldnt bother getting it valeted. The test only requires that the interior of your car is in a "safe" condition for the test. i.e. all loose objects stored away. If you give it a good hoovering and cleaning, and make sure thare are no loose things like books or phones lying around, you'll be grand.

Best of luck on the test ;)

make sure it is clean, noting too much, a cleaner car will make a better impression on the tester, they might be a little easier on you

to be honest, i dont think it would make any difference, they are looking at your driving skills not whether you are a messy bas.tard or not :D

Yeah, naturally it's based on how you drive but if you look respectable and responsible and your car is clean and tidy it'll create a good first impression which could help. You don't want the tester to have a negative impression of you before you even start the ignition!

I don't think they read that much into it. Otherwise, candidates should be much more worried about the type of car they are using. I can hear the testers saying " If I have to get into another bloody Micra/Yaris/Fiesta/Punto today.......". :D

I suppose so, but it's also like a job interview. Obviously the candidate has to have all the relevant qualifications (or in this case be able to drive!) but it also helps to be well presented. No matter how suited for a job a person is they're not going to show for an interview up wearing jeans.. I hope.
I hope they're not biased against car types.. imagine if someone showed up in a bright pink car with flowers all over it, eek.

By the way, good luck on Thursday, armchairninja!! :)
