I'm studying to become a pharmacist and I am considering a career in the army

Does anyone know what life is like as a medical officer? I hear it's an initial 1 yr contract-how much of this is actual training?

You go in as a captain afaik-so does that mean the exact same payscale applies or is it different? There's a serious shortage of pharmacists in general at the moment so I can't imagine the army is overrun with them

    Thanks

Well here's the payscale as provided by the Department of Defence. Looks like there's just two ranks - Captain and Commandant.

The DF is crying out for doctors as they are at about 50% of establishment for the last few years. See here for Direct Entry on short term (12 month) contracts.

you do the direct entry saluting course, other than that you are a civy in uniform, personally I wouldnt waste my hard study on the poor conditions of the df, get your qualification and travel tbh, after that look at the df if you still feel the need
