SIS starting to annoy me

Hi all, been offline for a while so not sure what the standard of debate is like here anymore.

Was watching racing at Tramore yesterday (or maybe the day before) in my local PP. There was a false start and the SIS commentator just fell short of saying "Typical thick Paddies can't even start a race". In fairness, false starts annoy me too but it's easily done with a tape start as we all know horses can be unpredictable animals. Then every race afterwards went along the lines of "Oh look, they managed to start first time"

Watching the French Derby today which is a million light years ahead of the racing at Tramore in terms of quality and prestige. They took about ten minutes to load them and then false started from a stall start.

    Which was more incompetent?

Sorry if this seems inane, just something that annoyed me but probably because I had a nice bet on the fourth and can't help but think he might have done better first time around

Starts are getting progressively worse, and not just over here. Anyone remember Cheltenham and the Grand National. I think the problem is with the course layouts. All NH races should be started on a straight where the horses can line up 50yds short of the tape, then let them walk in and let them go when they're sufficiently organised, maybe 20yds early. Having horses in a little pen (like Cheltenham) gives horses on the inside an advantage as they've less ground to cover than a horse on the outside, hence you get the horses on the outside running in order to keep abreast, causing chaos. It's not rocket science. I'd love to thump Matt Chapman hard. He's always slagging off Irish starts but never says a word about the British.
