Bomber/Survellance Plane Project

I bought a plane off ebay around 12months ago and bought servos, reciver and speed controller off green hobby and model. I got bored with it and bought a nitro car and put the electronics in that. With the correct motor this plane can exceed 100mph:D

I was thinking about the helicopter bomber today which reminded me of the plane. I got the plane out today and put the electronics back into it (I'm missing a motor and mount but can get those easily).

Anyway I was thinking about putting one of these into it for survallance and crontrol it by watching what the camera sees on a TV the only worry I have with this is the quality and range of the camera.http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-WIRELESS-COLOR-SPY-CAMERA-NANNY-CAM-CCTV_W0QQitemZ110134360879QQihZ001QQcategoryZ48632QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I also want to get it to drop bb's on the 'enemy' but the problem is if I put bb's in it it will change the centre of ballance and when the bb's are dropped it will change again possibly throwing the plane off balance and crashing.

Anyone have any opionions or suggestions? All help appreciated:)

I would imagine though that if the bb's were stored directly under the centre of gravity, then only the weight of the plane would change when they were released (causing the plane to lift). Alternatively, store the bb's in 2 containers, at equal distance from the centre of gravity. IF they release the bb's at exactly the same time, it should not affect stability.

I do remember when I was about 12 and they showed us how to make one of these planes on Blue Peter.

<---goes looking for cardboard, double-sided tape, a washing up liquid bottle and some paper glue.

bought one of those cameras last week myself, had it with me at hrta yesterday

my plan was to attach it to a cheap remote control helicopter i got on rsov, but i haven't had a chance to learn how to control the heli properly yet so i haven't tested that yet, i did however stick the camera on the front of my p90 and hooked it up to a handheld tv, the range was good enough to stay in the safe zone with the screen and with the p90 in the far corner of the building you could still see the picture on the screen perfectly, didn't really test it properly outdoors, but tested the range and it seemed to be about 70-100ft although that was running the camera on a 7v battery and using a 9v would increase the range a bit

That'd be pretty slick if it worked!

the camera? can't remember exactly, about 30-40euro for the camera and another 10-15 for the handheld tv, both on ebay

This would destroy your field of vision tho.

hence the flip down part, you can point your aeg around the corner with the screen flipped down to see what's there, and then flip it back up to move around and engage :D

Why not get a corner shot instead?

    http://www.army-technology.com/contractors/machine_guns/corner_shot/

Can even mount a grenade launcher on one.

Or you could use the same principle as a holographic red-dot sight and have the image projected onto like a HUD(ie. you can see it but through it at the same time)...wow, now THAT would be impressive!

expensive too, i was thinking the corner shot thing too o1s1n

    And the most interesting part:

    OPTIONAL WEAPON ACCESSORIES
    Silencer
    Flash suppressor
    Paintball kit
    Red dot sight

The corner shot would work for airsoft. All you need to do is put a GBB on it. The ones Israel use have a Glock 17 on them.

i hope no one goes and buys corner shot  , personally i think it would be way to unfair if no one else was aloud to blind fire [which they shouldnt be aloud to do]

Anyone able to find a price anywhere? I can't.

I doubt they'd be in our price range anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭liamo333

Why not just get a reddot and have a mirror so you can see around corners.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Think they can only be ''bought'' by law enforcement and government agencies.

The only old saying ''if you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it'' comes to mind.:D

A team could put money together to buy one. Shame about them only being sold to law enforcement agencies and governments though.

They do not sell them to civilians. Military use only, and they are very picky about which military.

Thought so. Good. The last thing I need is the muzzle of one of them peaking around a corner at me in HRTA.

Cool idea, i drop the BB bombing idea, I reckon no matter what way you work it it will be disapointing. An Eye in The Sky could be fun though. Have a HQ coordiante an attack via radio.

Another idea for HRTA would be sand tables of the various outdoor play areas to come up with plans.

Dunno about everyone else though, but I'd consider them unfair.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

it's a bit of an unfair advantage alright

I'd tend to agree with the getting rid of the bb bombing idea. Using it as a spy drone type thing would be fun enough as it is.

Some people might not be able to resist the temptation to take a shot at it if it's going to drop a load of bbs on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭liamo333

Well I've already sorted out a system of dropping bb's now I need to get it into the air. I'm not sure a bb would bo much damage to it
but i would be worried about the bb's hittong the reciver sending it out of control.

The simplest solution is sometimes the best solution. To be able to view both in front of the plane, as well as below the plane, a mirror is needed. As seen in the picture, half the sight will be over the mirror, the other half bounced off, and aimed below.

You can then practise when the target becomes in sight of the mirrir, you can drop the bomb, much like the way the Japanese used holes at the bottom of their planes to know when to drop the bombs onto the ships in Pearl Harbour.

Or even simpler you could face the camera downards.

Good, but tree's and brick walls will stop the plane very quickly, then:D

Just got a 400 motor. This thing is doiing to be FAST and hard to shoot down:D
