Spotted a light blue KE20 2-door driving through Gorey on Thursday night last.

I only caught a glimpse of it, but I'm pretty sure it had an Irish reg plate (silver on black rear plate ....UK cars usually have yellow rear plates since c.1970 onwards).

It was a minter by the looks of it.
Great to see one out and about ....brings back memories (although I never actually drove one ...learned to drive in a KE30 Corolla).

    Silvera.

Their used to be a red one of those going around the Tallaght area for a long time, up until about 2 or 3 years ago. Haven't seen it since. It too was on original Irish plates.

It was a shame the metal used for the bodies and chassis' were shíte.

Good to hear of one still about! That light blue colour was very popular, most of the cars that I "knew" were that colour.

Last time I saw a KE20 was about a year ago, a mustard coloured one in the kildare area, IIRC a 75-xx reg. There was some unpainted filler on a front wing and it was driven by an old woman.

Probably was a ZV import plate. An original Irish one would have a red rear plate with black lettering.

Used to buy these cars from the ehh travelling community for £20 and then rally them to death in a field.

If i only knew that they would become classics!!!

Great car to drive and the only one i drove where 720 was a reality rather than a dream.

Not nessesarily. Our old Escort Mk3 we had many moons ago had a white on black reg. plate (PZU reg.).

Well, BrianD3, I can confirm that it's the second mint K20 I have spotted in recent times!

Photographed this mint K20 at Trim show in 2003 (complete with original red rear plate!).
I checked it over very well and could find not sign that it had any major bodywork done to it?!

(BTW, did you guys spot the 1981 Fiat 127 Sport and 1983 Alfasud in the current 'Irish Vintage Scene' - both with original plates)

That 127 was at the Killarney show, the owner also has an orange one, and what was parked near it? Another mint KE20 in red.

This car is actually a Mark 2 Corolla which was first built in 1970...The first Corolla was built in I966 and a few of them were sold in Britain so maybe one of them arrived here:confused: There is a Toyota showroom in Co Waterford that also has a k20 Corolla in its showroom. I think it has two doors. I havent seen it there for a few years, maybe it is in storage..
