What kind of accommodation are you looking for? I backpacked around Greece and the islands back in 97 and stayed in a fabulous little hostel in Ios on a hilltop. Is it a hotel or budget you are looking for? How many people are you going with?

Alot of the budget places are booked up at this stage so we might have to go for an apartment. There are four of us going together(guys) and around 20 girls we know are going around the same time as us.We are all around 19/20 years old.

Try to get a place at the hilltop and not at the port. Much livelier.

    Ios rocks!!!!

I'm not a good person to advise you on how much money to bring (having a penchant for beautiful things I tend to shop A LOT), food and drinks are cheaper. Most of the clubs offer you a 2 for the price of 1 drink incentive or clubs offer free entrance on the condition you buy one drink etc. There are a couple of good well stocked supermarkets in Ios too where you can get good fresh food cheaply. Hostels are good value for money, I'd perhaps book something provisionally but when you get off the ferry you will be inundated with offers from hostel keepers who will rent you rooms pretty cheaply (all in competition with each other too, so ok to haggle). What islands are you going to? I went to Santorini, Ios, Naxos, Paros and then to the Greek mainland.

we are flying into athens first and staying there for a few days i think then were going to make our way down to the islands santorini first then onto naxos after that we havnt decided where to go until our last two weeks in ios.We thought about going to Corfu or Rhodes aswell, but still undecided.

It can be hard sometimes to get from certain islands to certain islands on the ferries. Best to make sure beforehand that ferries go to where you're looking to go.

Hi all, thinking of heading to Ios, Greece this summer with a few friends.
The only thing is, many groups going seem to be going island hopping, and Ios is just one stop out of many.
Does anyone have experience of Ios and whether it's worth going just to Ios for 7-10 days, without going to surrounding islands, or since many seem to go island hopping would you be have had enough of it within a few days?

Also, if you've been, in your opinion is it worth paying the extra bit of money to go there as compared to package holidays to say Aya Napa (which I didn't particularly enjoy). Thanks!

    Hi,
I've been to Ios several times and yes it's really worth paying that little bit extra to get there than Aya Nap. Once you get to Ios, Accommodation, food and drink and cheaper then other resort holiday packages. I came across a great website all about Ios Greece www.loveiosgreece.com
It has lots of travel guides and information on beaches and activities.

    I hope this helped :)
