    Hey,

got a D-link wireless router for wireless bb use and when openingthe install CD, the autorun is an exe file.

I bought it as it says its compatible with mac but it doesn't even autorun there are no instructions on paper.

Is there something I'm completely missing here?

    Thanks

Is there no set-up instructions at all? Have a root around the cd or try their website.

I've no experience with D-link but no software should be necessary. Just plug the router in and try connecting to it wirelessly (or use an ethernet cable). Then point your browser to 192.168.0.1 to set everything up.

I had one. You dont need any software for the router. just do what the prof is saying.

    So annoyed!

Have been trying to connect to the net and having a right 'ol laugh doing it. My mac can pick up the router through Airport and is showing up ok but i can't connect to any web pages. Have tried every help page and diagnostic and nothing happening.

Anyone come acroos this problem or know what the hellllllllll is going on?

What isp are you with? I assume you have the modem connected to the router's WAN port, right?

Is Airport definitely connected to the router?

With Digiweb, good service and fast connection when connected into ethernet.

Airport is definitely picking up the router, even when i take it further away from the router, the signal level goes down slightly. But anytime i try to run safari its like it begins to load, but after about a minute it says "safari cannot open this page"

hmmm ok, here's an idea: go into System Preferences > Network > Network Port Configurations (it's in the Show menu).

You should see a list of Built-in-Ethernet, Airport, etc. Drag Airport to the top of the list.

Better still create a "New Location" in the Network panel then on the bottom menu select "Network Port Configurations" and disable all except Airport - Name this , say : Home Wireless.

Create another location and disable all except Ethernet. Name this, maybe: Home Wired.

    Repeat for modem etc.

From then on you can select the locations from the Apple Menu (top left of screen) and drop to Location> and select whatever suits the situation.

Works great on my MBP anyway and save screwing about with my settings for WEP/WPA etc for every network I visit.
