Yeah I'm gonna put these through Digital Photo Porfessional and play around with them and the others. A few of my black and whites came out well too. Yeah he was awesome, will have to hit up his myspace.

Sorry for butting in here but i would love to know what settings were used?

I promised my brother in law who plays in a band i would do some shots of a gig but i haven't a clue?

Also do you have to keep the flash switched off?

Colmranger - do you have a flash gun you can bounce or diffuse? I wouldn't use it if its just a pop-up.

    Curious as to settings too...

I like the framing in the second one :)

I currently have the Canon 30D with just the standard pop-up flash?

settings for gigs in small dublin venues are generally something along the lines of (though these are very rough guides):

    iso 800
    shutter speed 1/80th
    aperture f3.2

the reason most concert photographers keep the flash off is the flash creates a completely un-natural light source that turns the scene being photographed into something that looks different to how everyone actually saw the gig. using the actual lighting to light your picture means you don't lose the atmosphere that the stage lighting creates

Hey all. Camera is the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. Lens was a Canon 1.8
50mm, ISO 800 shutter speed between 80-100-120 depending on the given lighting. These shots are unprocessed. Thanks for the support!
