Heard about that all right. And with the Beamers overheating when parked up hopefully the Police/Gardai will start to run a few Kwak GTR1400's now next year. Now that is a class looking high speed comfortable tourer.

The Police ST is has a lot of different things on it that the road one doesnt. It has a heavy load in the back, it has a light post, an led board and the front springs are harder than the standard one.
Also, it is important that the bike is set up right, it has adjustable rear shock, which if not set right according to the load you have could cause problems (coupled with all the stuff mentioned above), as it would cause problems on any bike if its not set up right. Also as with any bike tyre pressures is important. I doubt the police bikes are checked as often as they should be.
There are more and more police forces in the US buying the bike. I doubt they would if there was any thing to worry about. If there was, im sure Harley (which are being replaced by the ST) would let them know all about it!!!

Never seen any problem on my bike... ever... except the hole for a cigerette lighter outlet I drilled in the wrong place the other night, which we wont go into.....

I agree, and also the fact that the cop bikes are "generic" setup for coppers who could be stringy 5'11 or massive 6'6 and burly as hell!
I'd say you get the rough feel for the different bikes, especially when driving them day in day out, but obviously there has to be some impact when the ideal settings for one person are completely different to someone else.

A couple of the traffic boys that I happen to know where telling me that there probably going end up going with the XJR..

guess we'll just have to wait to see.

sorry for getting slightly off topic.

Yeah - I heard they got some on test.

An equally fantastic bike in my opinion.

Just not a 300kmph intercontinental tourer.

    What is this about ?....
"He said the force also has a “stringent” policy relating to speed which has to be adhered too." If they are unstable they should just pull them from service. When you count in the "updates" done on them at the first service a while back it would look like they took the engineering heads off do to the motoGP bike and the rest suffered

Well the Garda in Cork run a K1200RS, and that doesn't overheat...........and I don't follow the 'heavy gear' is the issue on the Pan either. Despite radio, LED, strobe etc etc, it's still less than carrying a passenger (80kg), and far, far less than carrying a passenger AND luggage (touring, anyone.....)

You won't see the GTR on the fleet - not least because of the cost.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Agreed, but this wobble is supposed to happen at 120mph plus... im sure a light poll would interfere with air flow, and the LED panel too... and as said before is the suspension/tyre pressure set right?? Were the tyres cupped?? Did the rider make an error?? Was there a strong gust across the motorway??
I can say the my pan is all set right, I havent seen any wobble, 2 up fully loaded...at the speed limit..:D dum de dum
And dont forget the police version of the pan is a little different than the standard customer version.
There was a load of ****e in mcn about this years ago, but i wouldnt mind much of whats in mcn.
You can get a wobble on any bike at speeds like that under the wrong circumstances!
As said, no forces in the US seem to have a problem...

The Gardai were supposed to be getting the ST1300's here but have pulled that, I think they are now opting for the FJR1300's. That wobble only happens on the police bikes and not on the normal road going ones.
