Thought I better start a thread with the Derby upon us...

With there being a short price favourite in the race has it taken away the interest people would have had if it was an open race...?

Anyway, I think Aidan O'Brien will have a horse placed in this years Derby....

ya your probably right....he has eight in the race so he wil be able to dictate it....wouldnt be surprised if yellowstone or eagle mountain win it

Its gonna be 15th time lucky for Frankie!!!

Well it better be,I think Authorized is a sublime horse and i am on it ante post since a while back. All he needs is a good run and hopefully he will hack up,I think alot the opposition have stamina issues and O'Briens best is Eagle Mountain IMO.But i still think he will do well to get in the top 3.

had eaglemountain each way but the attention given to Frankie before the race was a bit over the top. He wasnt the only jockey in the race like!. I reckon if eagle mountin had a better position at the start of the race he could have took authorise. Interesting to see if they will meet again.

Absolutely not, Eagle Mountain's a good horse... but Authorised is a class above, even though I was on Eagle Mountain!

Honestly can't see that happening. Backed Eagle Mountain myself (took advantage of 5/1 betting without fav) in the Derby and Guineas and while I think he has a decent win in him somewhere I cannot see him overturning the five lengths Authorised had on him. That was a good win by a different class of horse.

If the race was rerun 10 times Authorized would win every time, no matter how eagle mountain or any of the others were ridden.

The only way authorized could have been beaten is if Teofilo had been running and even then the result would be very debatable . Since it is unfair and unrealistic to include horses which weren't in the race Authorized wins every time

The best horse won the race, fair and square. How good the field was, we'll have to wait til the Eclipse and/or King George.

Eagle Mountain needed to be ridden closer to pace, he had too much to do coming off Tattenham, I'd back him against Authorized if Fallon was in the plate, we are seeing the exact same overhyping of this horse as we did with Motivator two years who won the race in the exact same style, 5 lenghts

Eagle Mountain has always be described as a slow horse which is probably why it wasn't up with the pace.

Murtagh did another Alamshar on it. Eagle Mountain was stone last coming down the hill.

In those circumstances, it was an excellent ride in the fact that he finished second?

Don’t think Eagle Mountain would get anywhere near Authorised even if Fallon was steering. Also anyone read Fallon’s comments in the Sundays that if he was riding EM he could have beaten Authorised!!!!

Bit cheeky from Kieran, if I was Johnny Murtagh I would be having a quite word in his shell like. Murtagh did get him up to second (with some interference) but no way was he getting near Frankie’s Mount.

Think someone who’s still under investigation for ‘irregular riding’ and who’s just come back from a 6 month drugs ban should string a few wins together before they start mouthing off about other jockeys.

Also Gaudophin have bought Authorised (So Frankie can get a Derby winner in Gaudophin's colours?) rumour that Auth. will possibly only run once more (under P Challepe Hayme – in current colours) before he’s put out to stud.  Bah humbug.

...Also Godolphin have bought Authorised (So Frankie can get a Derby winner in Gaudophin's colours?) rumour that Auth. will possibly only run once more (under Peter Chapple-Hyam – in current colours) before he’s put out to stud.  Bah humbug.

Darley Stud has bought Authorized as a prospective stallion (a figure of Stg£15 million is being reported) and has leased the horse back to his current Kuwati owners. Authorized will continue to be trained by PCH.

This is pretty much the exact same deal structure when Irish 2000 Guineas and St James' Palace Stakes winner Araafa (same owners) was sold to Plantation Stud before the Sussex Stakes last season. The owners don't have a stud farm, hence the need to sell.

Authorized's next target is reported to be the Eclipse Stakes (10f-G1-Sandown-3yo+) but he is also entered in the Irish Derby (12f-G1-Curragh-3yo).

I haven't seen any reports about him being retired after the Eclipse - it wouldn't make much sense to retire a healthy horse at that time of the year. Possible races he could run in are the King George, the International, the Champion Stakes (either Irish or English) or the Arc.

He won't be running in either Godolphin's or Sheikh Mohammed's colours this year and I doubt he will be kept in training for next year.
