okay i wonder can anyone help me. my htpc is starting to give me some mobo problems...not too sure why, could be simple but i have a temp solution in place.

i have a dell lappy the d600, a docking station which has dvi on it all on xp.

i cannot figure out how to get spdif port on the docking station to work..the dvi port works fine...i want to route the sound via the spdif. have the cable in, it all setup but cannot figure out how to direct the sound via spdif..

    anyone got any ideas?

i did google but i got bugger all except total bs...

    thanks..

You haven't mentioned which OS you are running. Is it 2005 or Vista?
Is the D600 port replicator one of the generic Dell versions, or is it specific to the D600? Does the S/pdif works outside of Media Center (e.g. Windows Media Player)?

    Krusty,

plain vanilla xp..the port replicator is this one pr01. that dock station seems to be generic (well dell generic) as it works with a d620 as well

dont know if the spdif works outside, i have not tried it at all before...

per chance is there a bios setting to enable it?

should be turned on via the sound card options in control panel.

or try volume control > advanced
