    OK. I'll bite.

What scare would you be referring to?

Given that the OP referred to Global Warming, you would seem to be referring to that, but I find that hard to believe.

personally i think global warming - i'm to b totally convinced of any of the explanations.
as for al gore i think he's just trying to keep himself in a job and make loads of money does he care abut the environment i dont think so, just hoping it would push him to the presidential race

    quote from washington post
"Gore's house in the Volunteer State uses 20 times as much electricity as the average household nationwide"

Fair enough. May I ask...what would it take for you to be totally convinced?

In my experience, most people who take the "not convinced" route can only answer that question in one of two ways :

    1) They set a hurdle which science can never meet.
    2) They give a non-answer such as "totally convincing proof, obviously".
as for al gore i think he's just trying to keep himself in a job and make loads of money does he care abut the environment i dont think so, just hoping it would push him to the presidential race
    Hmmm...

Gore has repeatedly stated that he's not interested in running for President. Until he does, I'm going to believe the guy rather than decide he's a liar based on no evidence whatsoever. There is nothing which suggests he'll enter the race as a Presidential candidate. There's plenty of loudmouthed commentators who want him to, but he says he doesn't want to, that his current work is more important, and you know what...I believe the guy.

I find it interesting, however, that with global warming, you take the stance of "need to be totally convinced", but with Gore, you'll make you mind up apparently on pretty-much no evidence at all.

"Gore's house in the Volunteer State uses 20 times as much electricity as the average household nationwide"
Yup. And its more-or-less true too. What's your point?

Do you know, for example, how much of his power is cleanly generated? Do you know how energy efficient his house is? Do you know if its reasonable to compare houses in multiple different climates (which would be necessary to get the national average)? Do you know if there are any additional considerations at all to be taken into account?

Or do you just know that Gore's house has a big electricity bill?

I would point out that the statement that "the world is warming" is as entirely accurate as "Gore's house uses 20 times as much electricity as the average household nationwide". In one of those two cases, you're almost-certainly aware that its not the full story and that there's more to it than making just simple assertions. Do you think maybe that might be true in the other case as well?

And at the end of the day...lets just say that Al Gore was the slimiest, dirtiest, most manipulative piece of self-serving scum on the planet. That doesn't make him wrong.

Al Gore is currently a force for change. I see that as a good thing, generally speaking. However, I do not advocate that anyone base their beliefs on what Al Gore says. If you want to know what the science says, find out what the science says...not what the politicians, the political commentators, the political media, the political lobbyists or any of the rest of the political game-players are saying. Find out what the science says. Then when you form your opinion, figure out who to throw your support behind, based both on what you believe to be true, and what you want to do about it.

Is Al Gore the Pope? No, he's not. He doesn't decide policy. He doesn't do the science. Al Gore is merely a voice for change who has an ability to be heard that he's leveraging for all he's worth. He's the Bono of Global Warming, and just like Bono he'll have no shortage of people more interested in knocking the person than dealing with the issues he's bringing to the foreground.
