    Hello all,
I'm looking for some info from people regarding the career as a sports trader/odds compiler. It's one of the career options which I am considering at the moment. Its an area I'd definitely be interested in, I read a book on fixed odds sports betting awhile ago. Unfortunately it was geared toward punters with limited mathematical experience. I have found it difficult to research this role on the net and most things I've found concerns the UK industry.
My main queries are the following:

How would one go about applying for such roles?
Presummably the betting firms train in their staff, Am I right?
What kind of qualifications (if any) are required? (both my primary & masters degree had substantial mathematical content)
What are the hours/pay like? I understand a sports trader would have to work some weekends but would they have to work every weekend?

Unfortunately I missed that "no experience required" show on rte so I was unable to learn anything that way.

Any advice/info would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

Ideally you would have a Degree in Actuary or a good understanding or statistics.
The hours are 24/7 as with online betting , there's something to bet on somewhere around the world 24/7 , no idea of wages.

Saw some jobs for them posted a while ago. Check out monster.co.uk salary was around 26k sterling. You'll need to have good maths skills (I.e your degree was numerate) and understand at least 1 sports arena fairly well.

Go to the Paddy Power Plc website. They were advertising for people recently. The job description might help you out.
