    Hi all

I've done a quick search on previous Croatia questions, but couldn't really find similar questions.

My mom and I are traveling to Croatia in July, for about 10-14 days. We are not the packaged holiday type at all, so 2 questions:

    1. As July is one of the busiest months, would we still be able to find some B&B for the same night we arrive in a place?

    2. Is it worthwile to rent a car there? It is not particularly cheap, but it will give us some form of freedom to explore as we feel. Anyone done that? Please don't suggest renting a bike - I'm going with me mam!!!

    Thanks

Myself and a friend went to Croatia for a week in April and we hired a car. We would have been lost without it and I would definately recommend it. I can't remember the name of the Company but they were the cheapest and provided a great service, we had no problems with them or the car. My friends have a house there so they visit regular and use the same car hire Company. If you wish I can get the details for you by tomoro.

I'm not sure on the B&B availability, we were in Isteria so I can't speak for the other provinces in Croatia. but there was definately an abundance of places to stay. There are loads of roadside restaurants with B&B plus plenty of accommodation in the villages & towns. We were really quite impressed by it all.

I was there last year and we rented a car, we would have been lost without it. No idea who the company was, it was some local crowd. The one thing I'd suggest is that if you're going to any of the islands make sure you know where you can get ferries to and from. We assumed it would be no problem moving from island to island, but had to change our plans a bit when we found that the ferry from (I think) Korcula to Hvar was for foot passengers only.
