Yeah I sometimes have a look through it to see how things have changed. I would have seen along the lines of this when I joined. Where did Ricardo Smith go to? :(

And I said: "Let's all meet up in the year 2000,
Won't it be strange when we're all fully grown?
Be there, two o'clock by the fountain down the road."

The days when Hobbes had the obscenely high post count. It was something like 1,000 posts. :)

Oh man, no wonder you all went for vBulletin, UBB really did suck.

I was lurking around here since 2005 when I actually got this wonderful invention called "broadband" :P Before I joined, any time I search for something, more often then not, links to some thread on the forum kept popping up in my google's.

Oh, heres something to laugh at: Microsoft's Webpage circa 1996:

The main thing I miss about past-boards is being able to click a button that showed you every post you made. It made tracking what you wrote and what you needed to get back to so much easier. Of coarse everybody else being able to check every post you ever made had its disadvantages aswell!!! I know it slowed down boards and all that but I miss it!!! We were promised we'd have it back some day im still waiting.

Oh and I know it wasnt that long ago!

    But the search worked!

It's also available on computer now too...far less messier than when it was available by pidgeon only.

    It is I!

They said name change, not gender change man. Woman. Whatever.

    Google says Twopossiblywoodenmadeouthousesuntbackgardenstoragetypefaciliteswhosthesonofjack

Also...why do the links not work for me? Is there a sekrit to them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,716 ✭✭✭✭Earthhorse

If you mean the links in the OP, I have no idea. If you mean the links once you get to the archive site, most of the suff isn't actually archived and the links appear to bring you to different places intermittently (i.e. every time I click on After Hours it returns a different set of threads).

    Thanks for the info.

Who at the time would have guessed that this site would one day dominate the internet!

Whoa, glad boards.us changed it's look and feel! :)

I have this feeling its an NTL thing.

Not working for me either. Or at work which is also an NTL line :(

Is this just with my links or all the links from that site?

Can you access the site web.archive.org? Try the links by typing them into the search box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭Anima

Yeah I'm getting the same problem on NTL. Web.archive.org doesn't show up at all.

I can access the raw site but every time I search (or click on one of the links here) there is nothing but a blank page yet it says "done" on the bottom bar.

Weird! NTL were my first ISP in the UK but I never had a problem with archive.org.

Not working for me either :( I'm also on an NTL line btw.

I really wanted to revisit the UCC website when it looked like a packet of Custard creams.
