Anyone have one of these mini bikes?

IT has a pull cord to start the engine like on a petrol lawn mower. I cant see anywhere that you might put engine oil so I am presuming its a 2stroke premix. I cant see any name on the engine so was wondering is it a standard amount of oil for these type of bikes.

    Cheers

nearly all those mini motos are premix and are all 2 stroke engines. i'd say your is a premix one so make sure you have the correct ratio for mixing the oil&petrol.

remember to much oil with the petrol with run it rich and smokey, and to little will run it lean.

refer to your owner handbook if ya got one with the bike.

I have the trial bike version in the attached photo. It's a two stroke and I think the petrol:oil mix is 30:1. I think both models use the same engine.

It came with a graduated mix bottle, I'll check it when I get home.

EDIT: BTW, careful with the pull cord. Don't pull it to the full length or the plastic casing will break. It's a bit flimsy. Saying that, I bought a replacement aluminium casing for it on e-Bay for about £5 sterling plus postage.

Cheers lads, FrD where did you buy your bike as I might see if they sell the mixing bottles. Any idea what make of engine is in your one. Not much came with this one as it was a promotion bike, just want to make sure it runs before I stick it up here or the B&S.

    Thanks

The brother brought two home from Brussels so I can't help you with getting a bottle.
    I've just checked bottle, 30:1
    It's marked for 575ml petrol, 25ml oil.

There is no make/markings on the engine, or on the bike.

A funny thing happened with it last month. See this thread.

A tip, they're cheap and cheerful. I had to go over mine and tighten up a load of the nuts with allen keys, particularly the exhaust bolts into the head. Otherwise it won't take any throttle.

Unfortunately I don't know much about the oil. I know I shouldn't but I actually use the two stroke oil that I have for a two stroke outboard........... :o

I'd say any bike shop or a lot of filling stations sell the oil for bikes. I've seen it on stands in the shops.

30:1 sounds a bit off to me.........50:1 is what's in my trial bike(s), so unless you've got an oddball motor..........ratio on most, afaik, is 1.5% - 2% by volume.

Tip: chainsaw oil comes in little tidy 100ml containers. So, 1 of these to a 5l can of petrol is 2%.

Always better to run on the rich side. It might pump out a bit more smoke, but at least it will ensure everything is better lubricated.
Too lean and it runs too hot

Yeah, I thought myself that 30:1 was a bit odd, the outboard for the boat takes 50:1.

Cubix, If I can dig out a copy of the booklet we got with the bike I'll scan in a copy for you.

Good tip about the Chainsaw oil. Think I heard somewhere that it would be better as a chainsaw is air cooled, like the bike but the outboard is water cooled. However, I don't really know what the difference is with the oil.

Sorry cubix, I can't find the user manual.

However, I think it's the same as this one so I know where I got the 30:1
    http://www.merlins-promotions.com/minimoto/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=31
    Mixing Ratio 50 : 1 after running in (30 : 1 during running in)
