Hey. interesting challenge i've given myself, thought i would post here, get peoples thoughts.

Over the past month i've gone on holidays played a couple of tournies bigger than im used to i.e waterford and i've bought a new car, crashed it...all in all basically i've found myself in a pickle financially.

So to correct this i asked a friend to give me 17 euro online money to put onto irish eyes with the challenge of turnin it into a grand, jus to see if i had the discipline to do it...Started this quest for a grand (as its affectionately become known) four days ago and the account currently stands on 450...

With the challenge half completed thought i would post it here in case it all goes pear shaped...any thoughts or feedback?? thought it might interest one or two people. If not tis cool, in two days no one will remember this post...

Seems like you have the hard part done already. With a bit of luck and some discipline it should be doable.

    Good luck.

now you have luckboxed you way this far, slow down the rest of the way and use some bankroll management!

    Play 20$ STTs or 20$NL

    good luck

Yeah, by far the hardest part is completed, I'd actually put you at 85% completed if you can now manage your BR correctly. Very Nice

well done.what stakes did you start off at or was it sit n go's and where you at now.just as a matter of interest, was there a reason for only asking for $17 and is the grand for crash repairs.;)

    17 for a mtt maybe?

I got the 17 because i convinced him to let me sit into 50/1 omaha with 50 of his money and split the profit/cost. Made 35. sent me 17. played a 10 stt and a 5 stt. won the 10. since then its been all 10 stt's and 25 stt's 6 seaters.

I am by no means professional, only a recreationally player but its probably payed for itself at least. BR management, anyone like to expand?? And rasta i've gotta say, the hardest part is to stay away from omaha 1/2 or 2/4!!!

dont buy in with more than 5% of your br.

although with micro stakes i think 10% is ok

oh yeah...course. thanks. up to 600 now...not a bragging thread here at all by the way cos i know that other people on here are makin loads.. its jus sounds cool i think to turn 17 bucks into a grand... :D i love poker!!!

ok. so jus to sum up my challenge. it's over. i got the account up to 820. I cashed out 500 jus in case it went pear shaped. Wise move i thought! :-)

Then last night i played two small buy in mtt's, 20 and 5 rebuy, small enough fields. However i bubbled in both of these, having my jacks busted by ace ten and the other one had my ace king busted by ace 5...these two hands happened within ten mins of eachother.

I proceeded to drown my sorrows the only way i know how, by playing omaha. (since if i won either tournie i wouldve comfortably hit my target and beyond!) I proceeded to lose the remaining money in my account, a couple of hundred, getting my money in ahead was scant consolation.

One hand i had ace 10 8 x with two hearts on a flop of Ace King 10 2 hearts and found my self hoping someone had the nuts!! Sick game isn't it, I was hoping someone had the nuts!!!

Wow..anyway, my challenge of gettin 17 bucks to a grand failed, only by a whisker tho. STill 500 ain't bad. Oh well...

Learn bankroll management and find a way to control your tilt other than omaha.

You clearly have playing ability but you will struggle to keep a bankroll without doing these things.

Still, nice win for a weeks work.

Pffffft! Call that a challenge? I turned $6,000 into $257 in 2 weeks.

Ya i know myself i lack discipline to stay away from games out of my current financial reach. But as i'm only a recreational player i sometimes indulge. Nice to know tho that if i do have discipline I defo can do it, short term anyway...

NIce one nicky!! But as for your challenge, already done that one!!! :D
