    Hey everyone,

    Theres a Compaq presario sitting around at home (its one of those with the AMD processors)

    1) Just wondering would this be a straight swap with no problem

    2)Also, would it be possible to go for an Intel alternative replacing the mobo, cpu and Ram like this:

    I haven't tried any of the above before. The only thing I have every done is install ram! I don't know a whole lot about hardware but can anyone tell me if it is difficult to do step 1 or 2 above?

    Thanks in advance! :)

    It may work it depends on how recent the system is;

    A) The Compaq case being ATX form factor so it can take the new motherboard, open up the case & take a look.

    B) The power supply so check markings on it 300W PSU should be okay. If not you can get one cheap like this model.

    As for the AMD or the Intel kit go with the AMD it's little faster and cheaper.

    Also consider your graphics card. Is Your current one AGP? if so you'll need a new one for these Mobo's that are of PCI Express 16 standard!
