Any reccomendations for me? Im going to get the canon 15mm Fisheye for skateboarding and the fact it should look great in the city but is there anything cheaper I could get thats "not as wide"!? Ive a nice bit of cash saved so im going to be buying alot of equipment when I get over to new york :P

So any advice would be nice on some equipment to get... Might get a flash and few more memory cards and a battery grip.. A telephoto lense maybe? A bag to hold all this stuff in?

Budget will be about 1000 dollars when im over there could be more though

I have the Canon EF-S 10-22mm and find it a great wide angle lens.

A good telephoto lens would be the Canon 70-200mm. There are 3 different ones, depending on your budget. I just ordered the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L lens.

A good bag is the Lowepro Slingshot 300AW. It holds everything I have (including body with a 100-400mm lens attached) and has easy access to everything. It is also quite comfortable.

The 10 - 22 is more expensive than the 15mm I think! As for telephoto I never really shot anything that needed one but I said as im going to new yourk might aswell pick one up cause there cheaper and ill find a use for it! Ive been out of the loop with photography for ages so what a better way to hop back in and go shooting in New York city  lol

    Thanks for the help btw

If your shooting digital then the 15mm would be about 2mm (unless your shooting a full frame sensor). It's not all that wide if its working out around the 22mm mark. I have the sigma 15mm fisheye for my Nikon from when I shot 35mm and its cheaper than brand name fisheyes as I remember. It might be a little bigger and heavier but it has build quality and is super sharp.
I also have the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye for my D200 which is faultless again. As far as I'm aware, I don't think Canon do a fisheye for APS sized sensors.
Tokina do a 10-17mm fisheye zoom lens if that might be of interest to you and there is also a Russian PELENG lens that do non autofocus fisheyes cheap, so check them out.

    Pete.

gotta prob get a bashing for suggesting this, but what bout a lensbaby?
    http://www.lensbabies.com/

it can go down to 30mm and ap down to f2, all for less than 150, which is a fair bit cheaper than most other wide angles, if you can live with and i quote "captures images with glowing highlights, subtle prismatic color shifts and the trademark Lensbaby graduated blur."

The sigma 10-20mm is wide and has the range, also its a lot cheaper than the canon. It only works on crop factor cameras so if your ever going to go to full frame its probably not a wise investment in the long term.

If that focal range is still too wide you might also want to consider the 17-40L

I got a Peleng 8mm for €130 a couple weeks ago and its about the cheapest fisheye out there. Quality wise its fine once you get used to it being a manual lens.

have the canon 15mm, nice lens but don't use it that much (last night was the first time in weeks) You have to be careful not to overuse it... forced perspective can become a bit hackneyed if overused!

If you want a cheap telephoto zoom to play with, the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG is hard to beat. You'll get it in B&H for about $130. Got my own one there in February :)

Yea ive a 350D so that crop factor is what 1.6?

Ill have a good look around B&H tonight see if I can find some things and then ask you guys.. im in work so I dont have the time at the moment!

I wouldnt mind getting a flash, battery grip with batteries(spelling?) and defo I need a bag like big time! Oh and maybe a tripod have some really cheap crap on now!

That's not strictly true. It will physically fit on a full-frame or 35mm, but will exhibit some vignetting at the wider extremes i.e. 10-14mm

Think your right - I was confusing siggys DC standard with canons EF-S.
