So I have ntfs-3g installed and a USB drive with a HFS+ and an NTFS partition on it, I decided that I was going to format the drive to EXT3 just to save hassle moving files between OSX and windows because I dont trust ntfs-3g and MacDrive is expensive.

I went to delete the NTFS partition in Disk Utility and unfortunately it destroyed the partition table, I had some important files still to copy over from the HFS+ partition.

Does anyone know any software for OSX that can help me recover my files?

maybe you can boot from a linux live cd to save your data?

edit: or you can try -> mac hd / applications / utilities / disk utility - and repair disk.
