Recommendations for new bike- budget of €500 max

Hi,
I'm looking at getting a new bike at the moment- budget is €500ish...
I was choosing between road bike, hybrid or sports/city bike and have decided on a city/sports bike. It'll mainly be for leisure cycling or to from work and the RARE occasion off road (nothing to serious; just along wood tracks etc), for which I'll change to off road tyres. I want a bike that's comfortable, light and conducive to quick cycling.

Does anyone have any other recommendations or know any good shops or sites ( doesn't matter if in UK or Eurpoe, Ireland seems to be very expensive...)

Hi,

A Great place to buy a bike for any budget is Cyclesuperstore in Tallaght. Hop on the Luas and your nearly there but they are moving premises on the 16th June up of the Greenhill road not near the Luas

They see Lapierre Bikes ranging from Hybrid, MTB, and Road. Bikes to suit all types of cycling.

They also sell Trek and Giant bikes. I bought a Lap Carbon Racing bike there and a professional Lap MTB and they provided me with a good discount.. They are very hepful and friendly

www.evanscycles.com is a good website with plenty of choice and good sales. I got a bike there before with no issues - saved upward around 500 euros on a 2K bike, including delivery, so great value. Never any sales of any note in ireland that I know of.
