I have a product key but no actual CD with the program on it. I need to reinstall XP onto a HP pc. Do I have to buy the full version of XP again or can I get it cheaper because I already have a license for it?

    Thanks.

Call HP for a replacement disk - it *should* be cheaper.

If you know someone who has the same version of XP as you just get a lend of it off them and use your licence instead of theirs.

Everyone I know has the Dell disk which doesn't work in non-Dell machines.

    Here's the answer :-

    Go to

    http://www.gennersales.co.uk/recovery/hp.htm

and pick out the suitable CD.

The bad news is that you have to buy these CDs . . . .

My Dell Dimension 4300 XP SP2 Home Ed put me back €33.

Once paid by credit card you may download direct and burn the disk image with Nero (free trial version in my case) to produce your own Reinstall CD.

By all means first look around for fellas with HP PCs and try to get a loan of their CD to save a few euros.

And try searching the web also.

    Tak.
