Just wondering when you change over to the digital service do you still have your cable subsciption in other romms as to avoid paying for the digital multiromm?

Yes the anologue stays in place. I gather you are thinking about getting NTL digital. One word : DON'T!

It is the most worthless piece of trash. I intend moving over to SKY once my 12 month contract is up. It is deeply frustrating. First of all you only get a handful of channels for the same money as SKY and you will find many of the good channels taken away which happened throughout the last year with NTL on such channels as UKTVGold, Men and Motors, Bliss, Flaunt, Scuzz and a few of the +1 channels. Men and Motors is still gone and it is one of the major selling points of digital TV.

Other than the poor channel line-up and all the srewing around, the EPG is so slow. You could be waiting until the next day to find out whats on TV.

And one of the worst problem is constant freezing pictures. Every night this week watching UKTVGold, the picture froze and I missed chunks of a show I was watching. Sometimes it sorts itself out after a few minutes but most of the time you have to get up and manually reboot the box. This happens almost every day for me.

NTL are a a terrible disgrace, truly pathetic, incompetant, useless and an embaressment to the world of digital providers.

I think it depends very much on the state of the cable network in your local area. I've had NTL Digital for a good while and it's excellent.
Have had no problems whatsoever with it.

The channel line up's not as good as sky, but on the plus side, the channels are in a more sensible order and you've all of the UK digital channels in the EPG i.e. BBC1,2,3,4,CBeebs, News24..
Channel 4 is in the correct place
and UTV's in the EPG too.

For the most part it has the channels from the sky line up that I would consider worth watching.

If your analogue cable is in anyway fuzzy, it's likely your digital reception could be a bit dodgy.

Well, I suppose it may vary from place to place but the fact it is atrocious anywhere is an extremely bad sign for the company. I must add that the customer service is a disgrace too with immature brains working the phones. The service is poor as it can take over 2 weeks for a technician to come out to check a complaint which ends up being something that could have been explained over the phone. The fact that channels are missing is unacceptable too. I am surprised that you don't have such a problem with freezing pictures.

My criticism is based on a desire for a high standard TV service. I collect TV episodes and when NTL freezes, I'm screwed. SKY may freeze now and again but based on research NTL is far more consistent in this fault.
