    Can anyone direct me to the full, up to date list of controlled drugs in the Rep of Ireland, including any amendmants since '77? I tried google and Irishstatutebook.ie and found the misuse of drugs act 1977 and the misuse of drugs act 1984 but neither seem to list the actual substances that are controlled as far as I can see, apart from mentioning cannabis and opium. Thanks for the help.

    As you've seen, all the acts do is allow the government to declare a substance to be a controlled drug, they only list cannabis and opium poppy specifically.

    I couldn't find any kind of list online either. You may be better off contact the Dept. of Justice or the Garda National Drugs Unit. There has to be a list available somewhere.

    Thanks gabhain, thats the puppy.

    I wasn't aware there were such broad ranging analogue/derivitive laws on the books in Irish law.

    Ive also been looking for a full list of scheduled drugs,I would like to know which substances have been banned since the Head Shop days.

    There were 64 substances banned last summer (2011) and I never did find what they were...anyone got any fresh ideas?

    The Irish Statute Book link provided by Dermot is as close as it gets.

    November 2011 is when they banned approx 60 more products

    "The Government has banned a further range of 'legal highs' or headshop products.

    The Minister of State with responsibility for Drugs Strategy, Róisín Shortall said the Government had approved an Order declaring a further range of '“legal highs' to be controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Acts.

    In May 2010, approximately 200 substances were placed under the control of under the Misuse of Drugs Acts, and in August 2010 the Criminal Justice (Psychoactive Substances) Act 2010 made it a criminal offence to sell substances which have psychoactive effects.

    According to the Department of Health, due to these actions, there has been a significant reduction in the number of headshops operating throughout the country, from over 100 to approximately 10.

    "These new substances are dangerous and pose significant health risks for people who use them“The Government has now brought under control another 60 substances approximately," Minister Shortall said.

    The additional substances which have been controlled are:

    · Further cathinone substances (further substances similar to mephedrone (Meow) which was banned last year.
    · Naphthylpyrovalerone and related substances (e.g. the legal high product Pure NRG);
    · Further synthetic cannabis-type substances (often sold as SPICE smoking mixtures);
    · Dimethocaine and desethyl dimethocaine (contained in the legal high products Amplified and MindMelt);
    · Desoxypipradol (found in the legal high product WHACK);
    · Aminotetralins and aminoindans (e.g. the legal high product Pink Champagne;
    · Fluorotropacocaine (also found in the legal high product WHACK)
    · BromodragonFLY
    · Salvinorin A found in the plant Salvia divinorum
    · Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine found in the plant known as Kratom.'

    This isnt anywhere near the entire list.

    There's a number Schedules attaching to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 & 1984 and the Criminal Justice (Psychoactive Substances) Act 2010.

    For a change, surprisingly they seem to be well and accurately summarised here including the drug names - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misuse_of_Drugs_Act_(Ireland)

    New drugs are added by way of statutory instrument. Usually the chemical names are given so it's hard to know exactly what they are referring to. Here are the recent ones:

    Mushrooms:

    Headshop stuff:

    A new list this year. Didn't hear about this one. Must be more head shop stuff:
