Formatting a DELL i9300

Did a quick search and couldn't find any clear answer to my question so apologies if this has been asked a million times.

I'm looking to wipe my laptop due to it being overloaded with spyware and the like but I've no Restore CD's etc.

Is there any potential problems with just formatting the Hard Drive by booting from a WinXP CD?

If I make a back-up of my Network Card driver would that be enough to get me connected back to the internet where I can download all other drivers?

I've done all this with a custom made PC where I have original copies of all necessary drivers but I'm just not sure of the complications that could arise when using a Dell laptop with access to none of the drivers etc.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

i don't see that being a problem once you have the network card driver...
as long as the network card is a built in one and not pcmcia or anythign like that.

Also just in case back up your modem drivers.

or just go onto http://support.euro.dell.com and download all of the necessary drivers and burn them all to cd. that way you shouldn't have to worry too much.

i presume its a legit copy of xp with working cd key

    Thanks for the reply,

I've got a legit OEM version of WinXp Professional that I'll be using. I've been putting it off for months but now is the time to just go ahead and wipe the whole thing. Just a little worried that Dell's hidden partitions might still exist and cause hassle.

    Thanks again.
