I remember there was a thread on this a while back, i don't know how it ended...

My management company have told us we have 3 weeks to remove the satellite dishes from our estate...

I bet they have a comission deal with NTL and Magnet on each home! Fu-king robbin coconuts...

Anyone had any experience on combatting this?

Someone mentioned Eu law on this some time back. Management companies are great at telling you to take down dishes but not so good at planning satellite access in the first place.

Just get a dish for the purpose. I've seen dishes that fit into white plastic wedges that sit on balconies, or behind porch doors that no Management Company can complain about.

this was featured on Joe Duffy a few days ago, just caught the tailend of it, similarly management company sent letter, then sent van around to remove dishes, removed them from apartments and houses, then after all the hoohaa and various legal threats came back to replace those on the backs of houses. Apartments were still stuck, I think that was the general gist.
You can probably listen back on rte website.
Cant figure how they were going to get a signal on the back of the house if it was moved from front.

If you are still left with no other option you could test the through the window option, though probably slim chance if you have double glazing

Propose a Cominunal Dish with Quattro LNB and distribution. Sky may even subsidize it.

in the rental contract i have with the letting agency, they have included a new clause, ' no aerial, antenna, or satellite to be affixed to the property' ... to get around this i got a plank of wood and secured it to the sidewall and affixed the dish to that...

they told be to remove it, but when i said that i haven't breached the contract they haven't said anything since... and that was a couple of years ago..

Is this a housing estate you live in?

Is the dish mounted on the front, back or side of the house? According to planning permissions:

"A radio or TV aerial on your roof is exempt once it does not exceed 6 metres in height above the roof. A satellite dish up to 1 metre across and below the top of the roof is exempted development only to the rear or side of the house. Only one dish may be erected on a house. A dish to the front needs permission."

If it is mounted on the front, then apply for planning permission to put it up. Place you notice in your front garden. See if anyone complains. If not and planning permission is given, it would be very interesting to see what the managment company says then.

With regards to the management company, you guys pay them to manage your properties. They are working for you, they should not be working against you. Take them on, write to them. If they are insisiting that everyone take down their dishes, and there are enough of you, you can pressure them into change.

Most importantly, talk to someone who knows more about these things than me!

Competition aside, why did you sign an agreement that you did not agree to.
    I.e the no dishes agreement

While some dishes are put up right and unobtrusive - some are a piss take
