What can I do???

I was driving onto the N11 last nite, when all of a sudden I heard a loud thud on my car. Thought a tyre had burst but the car was still driving grand.
So i reached my destination and investigated my car....there is a large enough dent on the fron left of my car, with a load of paint comming off it. It looks like a rock was thrown at it while I was driving. When it happened, i was just comming on to the N11 from bray (maybe its the M11 there) and there were no trucks or other cars around.
So from this i am concluding that some thugs (only way to describe them) must have thrown a rock at my car. Two things crossed my mind when that happened:

1. What if it hit my windscreen...it probably would have smashed in my face

2. My left window was open....wat if it went into the window and hit me in the head??

I really do not know what to do right now. It is seriously pissing me off that people actually do it. Another thing that crossed my mind was that it could have been a bird but there is no way a bird would have caused all that damage and also there would have been bird "stuff" all over my car.

Any ideas?
Also, has this sort of thing ever happened to you?

Could have as easily been something heavy on the road or something. Wouldn't automatically assume some scumbags threw a brick at your car.

that happens there all the time, there have been a few serious accidents caused by rock throwing but sure what can you do? i mean if you accidently ran over the bastards, you would end up in jail and they would be the victims. so just write it off to bad luck and be more careful the next time you are driving past the bridge

Happened to my buddy 2 weeks after getting his first car... He was driving along and some little ****s came out and lobbed some stones at his car, cracked his windscreen badly... Lucky it wasn't a big rock or anything, windscreen might have shattered....

Well considering there was nothing ahead of me and all that surrounded me were bushed and derelict land surrounded by a fence....i dont think a rock can just fly out of a bush on its own....

Nothing you can do people run over things the whole time you could easily hit a fox running accross the road.

Why didn't you stop and investigate what it was straight away? If I thought something hit the side of my car I'd have stopped to make sure it wasn't a child/animal...

U see, it hit to the left of my windscreen...and I noticed white dust so then realised it was a stone.
Got a quote....600 euro to be repaired...robbery i tell you

Driving past the halting site just before the bluebell industrial estate (coming from ballyfermot towards the kylemore road) about a month back and some little b*****d threw a glass bottle at my car, it left 2 really deep scratches in my drivers door and another 2 in the front wing and took a chunk out of my windscreen...

reported it to the gardaí etc... and they went down to have a look around, but i didnt expect them to find anyone, and they didnt expect to either, my window was open at the time too, so could have easily came into the car and hit me.

There's so many scumbags out lately. I just don't see the fun of throwing stuff at people. In Blackrock twice recently some scumbags have thrown eggs out of cars when I've been out. The first time I moved back just as it flew to where my head had been a second earlier. I was freaked out because it could have hit my eye or something. And that's nothing compared to throwing heavy stuff at cars moving at high speeds. Someone could get seriously injured or killed.
