I'm trying to connect to a windows shared folder. When i type in the url (smb://server/share) it comes back with a message saying the username or password is incorrect but doesn't give me any oppurtunity to enter the username and password. It's like it's remembering it from a previous connection but I can't find anthing relating to it in keychain.

Any ideas on how to get it to prompt me for the password?

    Try the address like this:

    smb://username:password@server/share

You can also go to MacHD/Applications/Utilities/Directory Access and change the workgroup name to match the PCs workgroup. Then on the Finder window left pane in Network select the workgroup then the client then the share you want to map and click "connect" give it a username and password.

Once the share appears on the desktop drag it down beside the Trashcan for easy access in the future. You also have the option of saving the password to your keychain for ease of use and convenience.
