This layout is so basic I can't seem to find it anywhere, but could somebody tell me the layout for the two letter types? Address on the left or right, who's address is it, date, line skipping, sign offs etc...

    Business/formal letter.

Your address top right (without your name or title)

Date (on right beneath your address)

Recipient's address (with name and title) to the left hand side on next line following the date

Dear Sir or Madam (if you don't know the name)
Title and surname of recipient - Dear Ms. Smith (if you do)

    Letter.
Briefly say why you are writing.
    Details of the letter.
What you would like them to do - thanks if appropriate.

If you knew the name - Yours sincerely - ('s' for 'some' clue)
    If you didn't know the person's name - Yours faithfully - ('f' for not an 'eff-in' clue:D )

    Space for your signature
    Name printed under your signature.

    Informal letter.
Your address (without name) on top right hand of page
    Date beneath your address

Dear John/ Hello John (on left - across from line below date)

    Body of letter.

Yours truly (or similar informal words)
