I remember for the local elections, there was a great site showing all of the latest tallies/news on their front page. Does anyone happen to remember/know which one?

    Ok I'm stickying this.

All vote discussion here untill the first counts start flowing in.
We'll decide what to do later as regards indicidual threads but I'd ask people to open a Dublin Thread and then one each for the provinces or the interesting battles.

Lets keep today tidy and fun!

Anyone got alternate links to any irish radio station streaming the election? Realplayer's disabled on rte.ie in work!

No Castleknock boxes open yet though - Vadakar's main hunting ground. However, Mulhudart boxes are in - Higgins home turf, and he has polled badly (for him) there... so lot's of interest to come there.

    Lenihan in already - gas...

    RTE offer a text service;

    http://www.rte.ie/extra/sms_election.html

    And also results per-county on their website;

    http://www.rte.ie/news/elections2007/constituencies.html

    Might be of use. :)

Agree with that- he deserves to get back - all's not lost though, all though it is tough to see exactly where his transfers will be coming from and how many

Tom Parlon's looking iffy already, an independent is already beating him in early tallies in Laois/Offaly!

I'd imagine that was in a very specific area. The independent(Bracken) is near Clara. Can't imagine Parlon would be behind him overall.

Harney definitely looks in trouble in Dublin MidWest:
    FF 35%
    GN 14%
    FG 12%
    Lab 10%
    PD 9%
    Ind 9%
    SF 8%
    (Other 3%)

According to RTE before 11. Can't find it on the site though. Four seats up for grabs.

Who the hell votes for that man?! It's beggars belief how people feel he represents them in any way. Come on Burton/Varadkar. Higgins will have to go I'm afraid, for the greater good.

    Meath East (from LMFM)

    Tally 100%, 1st Count underway

    62% Turnout:

    FF Wallace 25.58%
    FF Byrne 18.28%
    FG Mc Entee 15.9%
    Lab Hannigan 11.77
    FG Doherty 9.91%

    Wallace 60% in Ratoath.

Coastal boxes nearly all 1 Hannigan 2 Byrne, or vice versa, they want a local TD.

Louth looks like same as, no change. 2/3's of the boxes open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭Irish Wolf

Limerick East - mostly from the city...

    FF 48%
    FG 24%
    Lab 11%
    PD 6%
    SF 5%
    Gr 2%
    Ind 2%

Tim O'Malley PDs in trouble - needs good transfers from Willie... could be a Labour gain.

Louth will be probably be decided in the "wee hours"(:p ) and I'd expect it to be extremely tight. There are reckoned to be 2/3 in the running for that final seat, probably McGuinness, Kirk and maybe Deary. I'd expect O'Dowd to get in given that he is the only Drogheda based TD.

In DNE Larry O'Toole is not optimistic at present, in 4th based on current tallies and will depend heavily on transfers.

Labour may not be doing as bad as people think. Costello, Quinn and Burton were expected to be in big trouble, but are looking fairly solid.
Where are the labour losses ???

    Meath West (from LMFM)

    FF Dempsey 30%
    FF Brady 22%
    FG English 17%
    SF Reilly 11%
    FG Geraghty (less than 7%)
    FG Higgins 9%
    Lab Collins 4%

According to LMFM, McGuinness might not be in the shake down, no Dundalk or Drogheda boxes opened yet. Kirk is polling stronger, Deary of the Greens isn't expecting much.

Tipp North 50% open.. Lowry looking like he's gonna top the poll again... it absolutely amazes me how people vote for him!

    FF 37%

I've a man at the racecourse...

    Limerick east at the mo:

    O'Dea 16802
    Noonan 6693
    O'Sullivan 4501
    O'Donnell 4423
    Power 3162
    O'Malley 3001
    Quinlivan 1846
    Forde Brennan 1133
    Ryan 1116

Thats with 162 of 183 boxes open.

    O'Malley is gone tbh!!

    2 FF 2 FG 1 Lab!

Edited to mention: Willie O'Dea is a fnckin institution down here, that's a scary figure!

Kirk did get out and do lot of legwork. I'd still expect it to be very tight. I'd also expect a change to things when they open Drogheda and Dundalk, particularly the FG share.

FG will pick up Ged Nash transfers, although they may benefit O'Dowd more. It will also be interesting to see how well Deary does and how it will affect the final shakedown.

    O'Dea 16802

I can't see that being topped by Biffo or Mickey Martin in Cork. Oofh. That is some personal vote.

    Donegal NE tallies
    http://www.wisper.ie/e07/

Looks like Keavney is headed for quota (shame) but FF won't hold all 3 seats.
Fight for last 2 seats is McHugh(FG), Blaney(FF), McDaid(FF) and MacLaughlin(SF). MacLaughlin is ahead but less likely to get transfers, McHugh is polling well and Blaney and McDaid have a quota between them. Its going to be a tough call!

Cant believe Brian Lenihan is getting in.. He does nothing in the area.. Im disaointed about Varadakar.. he is all for bringinging in management companies for Dublin 15 when a lot of residents committes in housing estates are trying to get rid of them.. These 2 Candidates have done nothing to help the residents of Dublin 15 over the last 5 years to get rid of these companies.

It's an odd constituency - Lenihan could be living in Spain, sitting at a pool 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and he'd still top the poll. Vadakar is a rampant self-publicist - there doesn't seem to be very much substance there. Burton and Higgins should be shoe in's up here. The Greens need a decent candidate in the area, and there are no independants ...

    Not yet, Irish Wolf.

From RTÉ at noon, Cavan-Monaghan, 95% Boxes Open, FF 38%, FG 31%, LAB 1%, GP 4%, SF 20%, IND 6%,

The IND is Paudge, he looks like toast. FF Margaret Conlan is polling well, tight between Seymour Crawford and Conlan, I'd say.

    Lucinda Creighton (FG) - 6108
    Ruairí Quinn (Lab) - 5371

    From RTE 11:33 Dublin West, 100% Boxes Open , FF 37%, FG 20%, LAB 17%, PD 2%, GP 4%, SF 5%, SP 15% , Prediction None

Looks like Brian Lenahan first, then Leo Vradkar FG. A gight between Higgans and Burton for the last seat. But good result for Leo.

Surely unless SF pull off a coup. In fairness Twomey got in on a protest vote as an independant last time with numerous transfers from SF. A lot of people felt conned when he jumped ship to FG eventho he's a minister for health in waiting. North wexford has no TD at the mo, and D'arcy topped the poll in the local elections and comes from a strong FG family

Could be interesting to see if any Smith (FF) transfers go to O'Reilly (FG) for a second Cavan seat... not very likely though...
