I'm thinking of writing a guide on this topic and I want to gauge interest here, whether people would be interested in reading such before I waste my time?

I also want some ideas as to what topics I should cover - my thoughts are

    a) preflop play - opening ranges, calling ranges, 3 bets, facing a 3 bet and 4 betting
    b) postflop play - continuation betting, floating, 2nd/3rd barreling, postflop play in 3 bet pots, how to play draws in and out of position, when to slow play or fast play big hands, bet sizing & timing tells,
    c) metagame considerations
    d) datamining
    e) what software to get and how to use it
    f) table & seat selection
    g) rakeback, how to get it and use it to supplement your bankroll
    h) shot taking & moving up levels

what other topics should I be including?

bet sizing, tilt/controlling your emotions at the table(s). Bankroll limitations, discipline, patience, how to cope with quitting as a loser for the day. How to never play when drunk or in the wrong frame of mind due to personal problems. How to go about developing your game despite having a very concise strategy that defines you should do x in x situation and not a in a b situation.

so many things, so little time...

How about betting patterns - the ones to watch out for. How to play a good/bad LAG with/without position. How to rob a weak TAG. How to play medium pockets pairs when you have position but don't hit your set.
How to stop blowing up after playing well and grinding for a couple of hours. That last one would really interest me at the moment lol

Excellent idea however a lot of the complicated stuff like playing 3-bet pots is dependant on meta game and PAHUD etc. A lot of the sections will require a lot of asterixs!

    A few other topics:

    1) Most profitable times of the day (a poll was done on this)
    2) Preflop: Sets: Considerations when calling for set value. Considerations for raising any pair for set value. Same for SCs
    3) Multi tabling advice - A lot of this can be pulled from a good post on 2+2.
    4) A list of established posters names on 2+2 so people can read the archives and look out for new posts by them.
    5) Maybe have a list of the 10 most common mistakes.
    6) Going after fish (ie: how to profitably get into hands with them etc without leaking your stack)

    considerations when playing deepstacked.

fantastic idea, might be best to split into two though. Basics and advanced play.

Get the basic fundamentals right and once you have them down and ingrained so that you're doing it all automatically then you can start to introduce advanced plays on top of that.

I'd find it very useful anyway +1

yes def a very good idea, best of luck with it.

Session lengths, why you would increase your session or decrease it. When chasing the fish becomes < to getting tired and not playing your set break periods

still havnt set up PAHUD or Pt which is a joke, so look forward to reading the info on that

I am trying to give cash a proper go at the moment but find that i am still making silly mistakes from time to time and these are costing me most of my profits from a good session.

I would definitely be interested in a guide for low to med stakes nlhe.

how hungry you are when playing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

Sounds brilliant Valor would definately be interested.

Anything on Timing Tells, when to valuebet or overbet the river etc...
    cheers.

edit: Ocallagh was talking about multitabling, any advice on computer setup for multitabling would be usefull too.

I'd def be interested in reading this. I'm setting up a guide for using 2+2 with a list of threads that should be read, etc. It's taking far longer than I had originally anticipated, so much to include.

You could also include pieces on note taking and using stats. Then how to combine these for hand reading.

Preparing to play, psychology, mind set, etc.
