Would anybody know of any “Pilates for men only” classes
    in south Co. Dublin?

I’m wondering as it seems that most general Pilates classes are mainly attended by girls. The odd time a guy seems to attend.

I did a lot of research into Pilates early this year in the city centre and south side and not once did I come across a men's only course.

If its any help, i do Pilates in Rathmines in http://www.centrestudios.com/ and some of the teachers are excellent. The bodysculpt class has got one man who's been going religously for years! You can do drop-in's so you can suss it out if you like .....

    Glowing, thanks for that.

Just remembered that I saw a few years back an add from someone in Blackrock advertising Pilates class for various groups e.g. Men, The Elderly, Pregnant Women .... Will google that and have a look at the website you mentioned.

A friend of mine may well be starting a core workout for fighters who'd mostly be men. It'll basically be pilates but he's not calling it that so he can get some of the lads in to do it. I think, unfortunately, it'll be on the Northside but I'll keep you posted.

I do pilates and the majority of the class are women. I don't have any problem with it- its actually more relaxed with women in the class as most men are attempting to look macho and inturn look like fools!

I go to Aine in Studio 23 and find her great. There are some men in my class. She also does pregnancy pilates. I am sure if you asked you might find a men only class.. www.studio23.ie. I have also been North side to the Elbow room to Brian who is also great

    hi guys,

I'd be well up for pilates for men but would go to a mixed class once there's at least one other guy there. I struggled with hamstring trouble for last few years and hear pilates might help my flexibility and strength around my glut area. I'd be a complete beginner.

do yoga it would resolve it quicker and do plenty of glute and piriformis stretching also.

I see this all the time

Cheers for that Transform. My physio used to be sayin how bad my glutes and piriformis muscles are. But does Yoga strenghten as well? Whats the difference between Yoga and pilates? Flexibility is the main thing for me but I'd imagine I'd need to strenghten as well.

    Thanks again.

no point in going into the differences, do a yoga class like bikram or ashtanga for flexibility. Your physio should have given you exercises to strengthen the glutes or at least to get you from being less quad dominant. If not go to a trainer so show you how as its not the sort of thing you can learn or teach over the web.

    Hi Joey joe joe,

I've been doing Pilates for the last 3 months, also had problems with hams and hip rotators. Really enjoy the pilates, but find it's more to do with core strength than flexiblity...
I think there's a mens class in Naas but there's no reason not to go to a general class....It will be full of woman but that's not so bad.....the music does tend to be painfully cring worthy
