Ok just ordered a gun and the an post site says it's arrived in portlaoise. Is there a customs office there? Whats going on?

previously i noticed orders would be into portlaoise in the morning and out for delivery later that day, but my order arrived into portlaoise mon night/yesterday morning and didnt go out for delivery until this afternoon, and that was without even going through customs...

if they go through customs, itll be listed on the tracking website, so if that shows up, have cash ready to pay vat

Don't worry about it, its standard procedure, you could have it today or tomorrow, depending on where you live.

On a side note: I have an order coming in and it should be delivered today, which is fine, but according to the AnPost tracking it never actually went through customs, through Portlaoise yes, but not customs. I don't want to jinx it but do you think I'll avoid the duty/VAT?

Possibly. That happened to my first order...sailed through without a breeze.
Although the An Post tracking isnt the most accurate....that order was still listed as accepted in Port Laoise for over a week after it was delivered to me.

An post are a nightmare to deal with, was getting a package delivered from Hk, wasn't showing on track and trace so i e-mailed them, they said it hadn't comeinto the country, you can imagine my suprise when i went home that night and it was waiting for me. Slightly annoying

Yea they just say "order shipped 17th May", no "has arrived in Ireland and is being processed" and i cant track itwith an post either But my red dot scope arrived, nifty:)
