canon camera problem-Please Help

    The screen on my canon sd20 digital camera appears to be broken. The screen itself isn't cracked or anything but is always white when I turn the camera on. The camera still takes photos and I can still put them on my computer so I don't think its a major issue. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if anyone knows of a decent place to get it repaired in the city centre. Any idea of cost?

    Is it still under warranty?
    Either way, I'd take it back to the retailer.
    I've had a look at that camera online and it has no view finder, so there is no shooting mode, where the LCD should be off.
    Depending on the age of the camera, you have certain rights, with regard to getting it repaired. Providing you care for it properly, it should continue to work, for a reasonable amount of time.

    I bought it about two years ago in the US so the warranty is up unfortunately. I went to several camera shops today and the cheapest I was quoted for repair was €155 to send it off to canon. I also e-mailed canon directly but no word yet. I could get a newer version of the same for €230 so I'm torn now as to what to do.

    Oh yeah realised that the sd20 here is actually called the canon IXUS.
