I'm a bit rusty, just wondering what you think i should do on this river?

haven't been at the table long, just datamined a little before I joined, he doesn't seem to have been involved much.

    18/6/.7 nit.

edit, while I'm here I'll stick another hand up,

bit of a fish, 40/10/5, haven't seen much out of him, have been concentrating on another table. calls down a bit light.

I think I prefer to let him bluff and call that. I don't even see the value in a bet/fold situation here. Will he call with 88 or 99, as far as I can see those are basically the only hands we can extract value from. Tricky one though and certainly a weak part of my game, value betting marginally decent hands on the River.

his AF is .7, he's probably not bluffing this river. I reckon we're behind a higher pair here and I check.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

i don't think he's ever gonna bluff this river, I'd imagine he pf calling range is pretty much just pairs, so I was kinda worried after his flop call.

I thought he probably had a set, but his turn check confused me.

    For me it's

    1. Bet and fold to a raise, altho it's nearly a check/fold. I'd check/call if he had a higher agression factor.

    2. Fold flop, as played fold river to the overbet

why? I have a gutshot royal flush draw, and he's bet half pot.

My normal line for hand 1 would be to check call river but seeing as his af is .7 likely not going to happen, tricky one. There really isn't much that calls that your ahead of so think check is best.

Hand 2: I bet the turn and on river I actually like a fold here but with a 30 second clock counting down I probably call it cause I have 2 pair!!!!!

I'd fold because the suits don't come up on my computer in work :D I'd still fold river

Yeah, I didn't notice his .7 AF factor, he's probably not going to bluff at it alright, although I still check here.

As for 2, yeah it seems standard enough, I would sometimes raise the flop, I'd also call the River if I checked the turn (which I'd sometimes semi-bluff at) although I can see him beating you alot of the time here.

2 seems fine on all streets.

Hand 1: I agree with HiCloy on hand one its pretty close between all three bet i'd probably bet/fold that one.

Hand 2: I'd normally want to call these players down with any two pair but I think he's got there with a queen of some sorts for some reason. I would like to make it 12 on the flop as another spade or a queen is probably going to stop them putting too much more in then if he calls that and you don't make it you can fold the river a lot easier.

same guy as the second hand.

i called the other hand because i didn't think his play made all that much sense for a q, i looked weak, plus i had two pair!

    he had a7o.

    what about this one?

Think I fold now, I'd have him down as an A rag merchant and I think he probably has an A.

    Fold - let it go

I can't believe they had A7 in that hand! Once you've spotted these ace loving players its easy to fold these hands and its also easy to get money out of them when you hit more than one pair. This guy looks like something of a cash machine please tell us their id!!!

Hand 1: Bet like $22 fold to raise.

hand 2: bet turn in - even if his hand was face up and he has Kx I still bet this turn $11...you wont stack him if you check turn.
I call river too against villain. But I think he has a Q too much..

#1 i value bet small like $20, fold to a raise. this guy wont pounce on this apparent weakness but he will call you with 66, 88,99 which are his most likely hands

#2 i raise the flop all day, i think the overbet is mostly a Q and fold but I dont think a call is too bad, i bet turn too to build pot

#3 i fold turn and put it down to position

    #4 is fine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,810 ✭✭✭✭jimmii

    Hand 4:

Seen people doing this with all sorts of different hands 77+, two decent diamonds etc. I think gamblers call here but wiser players fold. I don't think a call is too bad but i'd be folding as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

    1. i was going to c/f the turn, after he checked behind I thought he had something like 66,88,99 rather than a set, plus i expected a raise pf from jj+, a bit stuck on the river i bet $22, planning on folding to a raise, except he min-raised me, aggh, really obvious fold, but i paid off his passively played AA.

    2. yeah, a7o. probably should play this more aggressively.

    3. I called, planning on folding to a river bet, but he checked through with kj, and I thought i was great, but retrospect i don't really like it that much. being oop sucks. his aggression factor was what made me call him down, plus i thought he was pretty bad.

    4. i folded and he showed 97s, which annoyed me a bit, but i ran it through pokerstove, and jj is only 60/40 fav, considering that that's the worst part of his range, i think it's ok.

the #1 call is really bad, you win there like 1% of the time

Calling #3 and planning to check fold the river because of his aggressiion factor is counter intuitive - you either fold now because he is likely to fire again and you cant stand the heat or call/call

yeah, i know, not folding to min raises is a bit of a leak i have.

even with his aggression factor i don't think he fires on the river again with a worse hand. i prob would have called a weakish bet, similar to the turn bet, on the river.
