I finally got my hands on a Boss ME-10 that I've been looking for for ages, but its US voltage and I need to get a step down transformer.

Anyone ever use a step down transformer with pedals before? Are there significant noise problems?

Just get a european power supply? Doubt it runs straight off of mains

As said above, I doubt the powersupply is built in. Flip the unit over and you'll be able to find the powerrating and ampage, then just buy a suitable transformer. It will work out a lot cheaper. Think it should be something along the lines of 9vAC 600ma

it is unfortunately built in, its a multi effects pedal from the 80s, not a stomp box.

mains cable directly wired to the unit.

In that case, to get back to your original question, there shouldn't be any noise problem at all. It's a digital unit, the quality of power getting to it won't make a bit of difference to the sound.
