Bought a TV off Pixmania and am returning it cos of defect. Need to send it to France. Package weighs 10.5kg, postage was 21 euro here. Finding it difficult to find a reasonable postal service to return it, any ideas? An post 72 euro, DHL 169 euro!

    cheers

Do Pixmania not arrange collection of the TV?

I suppose not or you wouldn't be asking!

You could maybe try GLS or Nightline. Dunno if Fastway operate across Europe.

I had a monitor that didnt work that I sent back to Pixmania and I made them put it in writing they would refund me the postage cost.... I had to hassle and hassle them for it but they did - had to keep the receipt for An Post (monitor cost approx 80euro I think to return) and they did a transfer after around 6 weeks back to my bank account.

Make sure its something with tracking etc so you can prove they have receievd it whatever method you go for.

Not that its any help - but if put me off dealing with Pixmania again - especially when I found Komplett had a free returns service.

    Edited to add

Not sure if came across clear ... they refunded the postage cost to me ...eventually!

It definitely brings something to bear in mind when ordering from Pixmania (or any other e-tailer) in future.

    Strange, that.

Most companies i've dealt with have been happy to orgainse all the collection of dodgy goods.

It'll make me think twice about ordering off pixmania in future.

Companies like Pixmania and such, who would regularly be sending many and large packages all over the world will obviously have a business contract with a postal company so that every package does not set them back a fortune.

It would be cheaper for pixmania to arrange collection of your damaged item through their courier than to have to refund you for return postage and make you pay for it, I would try and make this point to them before you return the item as it could save you a lot of hassle.

Thanks Guys. Interlink, 29 euro plus VAT, also found this on pixmania stating they refund postage costs.

    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/faq-8-7--who-pays-for-return-shipping-fees.html

Going to get it in writing though

Not a bad price from Interlink.

A massive difference from what our national postal service offered!

I had to return a harddrive to Komplett, not a big item yet still cost me 10 to get it back to Dublin for their "free" returns, would put me off buying anything large from them especially as things are coming down in price here.

A Pixmania Tale  . Ordered a camera in November 2006; (A) camera shipped two/three days later; (B) wrong camera; (C) contacted Pixmania who arranged  the return courier; courier picked up two days later; delivered back to Paris per tracking notes; (D) eventually acknowledged  by Pixmania; correct camera shipped and arrived just before Christmas.

I was very impressed with the service: (A) and (C). Everybody can make a mistake, give the benefit of the doubt: (B). Not very impressed with the service: (D). And then.............

    (E) Invoice arrives from courier company in January as Pixmania refused to pay the freight, 50 odd euros. I have been since January 2007 contacting Pixmania to have this sorted out. I followed their T&C's and under those they are liable for the cost of shipping back, to them, incorrectly shipped products. My fingers are worn calling 0818 244 100 pressing 2 four times and at this stage I know the names of the customer care reps in the UK. However the story I keep getting is that they have passed it to Paris and etc.... Meanwhile the courier firm is sending me threatening letters to pay the bill. Eventually, just this past Monday (May 21), Pixmania called me and said that they would be paying the courier bill. A lot of hassle, a lot of phone calls, a pain in the *** and guess who won’t be dealing with Pixmania again!

Just to warn you. I placed my order on Monday thinking I'll have it before the weekend, especially since all items were in stock.

After being told that the order was being prepared on Tuesday I was disappointed but could deal with a one day delay. No more updates were given to me so on Wednesday I sent an email through the website to check on the status of my order.

I got 2 replays to further questions and was informed that my order had been dispatched with DHL at 5.30pm on 30st May. This was a blatant and utter lie and the parcel was still being prepared and a quick phone call to DHL confirmed that the parcel had not been picked up.

On Thursday I sent yet another query to Pixmania with exactly the same response as the day before...another lie. Not until 16.15pm on Friday the 1st of June was the order finally sent by Pixmania with DHL.

All this meant that I wont have my camera for heading on holidays and I'm going to have to arrange for someone to pick it up from DHL.

Maybe it was my fault for being naive enough to think theyd honour their agreement. Whatever the case I won't be ordering off them again due their customer service department telling me complete rubbish.
