Was playing Halo 2, xbox locked up. Turned it off and on and the 3 rings of red doom appeared. Problem is..........I bought it on Adverts less than a year ago and I have no reciept. I am dreading the M$ run around. Would any one have a recent receipt they could lend me (scan and email)? Or does any one know of a reliable third party repair place that is not outrageously expensive? The box has a manufacture date of december 2005 so its not even two years old.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

    thanks.

Try saying that its not out of warrenty, that you bought it in june last year, just persist that you did... I think funkyflea did that and MS repaired it for free, as for me I paid the full €120, not great but its a brand new xbox with another years warrenty!

I just rang MS. No Joy 120 to repair. I told them under Irish law that it was covered for 6 years but they want me to send in proof of that. As far as I know no one has been able to get it in writing. DAMMIT!!!! I might just bite the bullet and pay the 120 euro.

You are entitled to it under law. The small claims court accepts applications online AFAIK. Take them to court, I'm sure they'll get back to you before too long!

Do I have a leg to stand on since I bought it second hand? If I had the reciept I would bring them to the small claims court. As it is I can only hope that I can convince M$ to repair it for free. I am thinking of just paying the 120 euro to get it repaired.

Just got on to them again. Since I registered my Xbox with the first guy and told them a date in the summer of last year, the 2nd guy had it on his system that it was still in Warranty. I think he got confused about the notes the first guy had made and is sending me out the labels (via email) to send it of to be repaired. Made a confusing ystem work for me for a change.

    Fingers crossed this works out.

Well mine definitly had a new case and a new serial number, I thought it was refurbs too, but I'm 90% sure this one is new. I think I recall someone saying they got what they thought was a brand new xbox recently!

Just got the labels etc emailed to me. However the links in the email to find a place to drop off the package are all to English UPS places. I can find one in Ireland easily but I am worried that they messed up the label and it is for an English pickup and return only. Has this been the case with anyone else?

Ring M$ and mention the 6 year goods law thing.
If they refuse Ask to speak to the manager of the centre or the head guy whatever.
Then if he refuses mention the small claims court and they will usually just sort it out no question. Not from personal experience *touch wood* But read on a few irish forums that it works

I got my Xbox repaired without receipt. The courier came to collect it the following day so I presume you'll get yours collected too.
