    Hi guys

A friend rang me there with a problem, hes got an old c180 merc and is saying the accelerator seems to have gone spongy and when stopped the rev's will rise by themselfs untill he starts driving again.

The pedal isnt stuck to the floor but he described it in lay terms as feeling like there were previously 4 rubber bands of tension pressing the peddle but now only 1

I said id throw an eye over it for him just incase it was something small like a loose cable but just wondering has anyone any pointers or if he needs to leave it off somewhere is it an expensive job on the car?

    Thanks

Maybe the spring at the throttle housing has snapped? That might explain the rising revs.
