Tough one this time. Nothing grabs me immediately though there are some nice shots there. I'll have to think about this.........................

cold shower looks great, well impressed

Like the Cold Shower, but I'm wondering if it's a bit voyeuristic ...

Also like the girl in Shadow and Light, if I can overcome her gorgeousness and look at the image just as an image as opposed to a gorgeous girl, well then...

    hc

And they wonder why I think about pictures being given merit for the subject rather than the presentation...

Is it just me or are half of these silhouettes? There's bugger all shadows in some of them, or light for that matter.
All depends on how you define silhouettes though. I could be just getting old though.

It was shadows/darkness. There's plenty darkness there!

Ah right, I thought it was shadows and light :( Still not a whole lot of shadows though.

Yep, that was one of my first thoughts too.

I thought that a lot were more silhouette (sp?) too. Maybe a challenge for another day...

I have only just realised that if you click on the picture you get a popup of the full size one which is better than the small sized preview one.

I wonder how many actually do look at the bigger version?

It's meant to suggest other themes  but I suppose could be infered as "questionable Photos"

    could be interesting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,268 ✭✭✭trooney

Yeah, I got what you meant. I kinda liked the idea of an 'open' theme though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 287 ✭✭latchiko

If it's an open theme then I think it loses the "challenge" aspect. For me (an hopefully I'm not alone here!), having a particular theme to focus on makes me think a little more about the shot and also encourages me to try something I may not have tried before. For example, Covey's idea of "Photos from above or below" forces you to think about what you're taking in a new light, which can only be good.

And well done Pete, great shot!

Thanks Latchiko. I do agree that a theme being set does make everyone focus on what they are shooting and you get to see everyones interpretation of that theme. I know with the themes for me, it can be a challenge if the theme is something that I find difficuult or wouldn't normally shoot and it gets me out there trying something new and hopefully learning something from it.

    Pete.

"Change your Perspective" then... photos taken at odd angles. That should be a nice quiet challenge :D
