    Hero has c750 villain c550.

    Live 5/5 generally straddled(live) to 10 now 6 handed, approx 4 hours into play. heros image is solid only losing 1 showdown from 7.

    Villain looks to be a decent and poss winning tag. not played too much and only showndown winning hands and cbets with freq. seems to have made a couple of "biggish" laydowns. plays hands quite aggro in position.

    EDIT: Villain is BB 1 limper i also limp in CO with Qx8h Button folds SB checks BB raises to 35 folded to me i call .

    Flop: 2 3 5 (2X hearts) {85}

    Villain bets 60. i call with intention of repping any str8/heart card.

    Tuun: Qh {205}

    Villain insta bets out for 75.

    This kinda threw my plan off as he seemed quite comfy betting out.

    I call after some solemn contemplation.

    River Ah {355}

    Villain bets out for 100. Call/Fold?

    Edit: Sorry i got the dynamics of this hand all wrong.

    Your in the big blind? How come he gets to bet first every street?

    Assuming you are oop this hand is horrible from start to finish (its still horrible in pos, just a little less so), floating oop is awful. Why call preflop? Your hand is rubbish, its not even suited. On the flop you call a big bet with nothing, ok. Then on the turn you call a big bet from a tight player who looks comfortable and you have a pair and a draw to a very long way from the nuts. Calling here is absolutly terrible given you have no read and no idea what you want to hit if anything. If he has something like Ah Qx you are drawing next to dead. Then the flush comes on the river and he makes a bet that can never really be a bluff, I personally would be tempted to call given the odds you are getting and he may be making a cleverly disguised bet to look like a value bet. Honestly though the river is the least important street, everything up to that point is awful.

    I'm very bored with lots of time on my hands in work so I did a couple of calculations to give some help here! (feel free to point out holes in my analysis)

    The pot is offering you 22% pot odds. A call needs to be correct about 22% of the time to break even. i.e. If you think there is greater than 78% chance he has a heart, then fold.

    b) Probability of your opponent holding a heart, considering his range of hands based on the betting:

    Since he raised PF and is betting after the flop, his probable holdings are KK (6 hands), QQ (1 hand) , AA (3 hands) , AQ (6 hands), KQ (8 hands), Jh10h (1 hand), KhJh (1 hand), = 31 hands in total. I've assumed he won't insta-bet the turn with 99, 1010, JJ, AK.

    (the hand count this takes into consideration that Ah and Qh are on the board and you have a Q in your hand and can't be in his hand)

    So roughly, assuming he played the hand like a good player would have, then chance of him having a heart is 5/31 = 16%.

    This seems very low (possibly too low) … but anyway it suggests that you should definetly call!

    Ignoring the maths, you could argue that he won’t bet the river without a high heart. In which case you would just fold….

    sorry guys got the hand dynamics all wrong, its fixed now.

    As HJ closely guessed said it probably was one of those villain is hero things, i actually was not in the hand as i folded preflop.

    just when the hand went to showdown some of the guys were discussing if this was a donk play or mathsy 3.5-1 auto-call on the river, just said i regurgatate the hand for some educatted opinions.

    I physically wretched when i saw the showdown. 8h for the flush was good.

    i didn't like any street TBH as it is very weak and calling station like. a winning regular said he wouldda raised the turn and be done with the hand as it played out. just wondering what anyone thought on that ??

    its the crane club mullingar. there was 7k plus on the table at end. took home 800 for a 300 BI. happy enough. the game has so much potential for any smarter than the average bear.
