    Hi,

Doing a bit of a trip in West America in July and i was wondering if anyone can give some tips on the areas mentioned above, i have pretty much booked as far as Yosemite and i need a recommendation for a hotel in Yosemite thats along the route to San Francisco, after leaving San Francisco heading down the coast to LA has anyone experiences they want to share, where not to spend a day, places that need a day and places i shouldnt spend a day in as there isnt much to do.....im looking at reasonably priced hotels 3-4 star

You could stay in the Yosemite View Lodge about 2 miles outside the park. Ask for a river view! This place is the closest thing to civilisation in this area. There is a pizza place & restaurant onsite. Stayed there in March and it was fine. Hike to the Nevada & Vernon Falls - fantastic Waterfalls. Also longer hike to Half Dome if you are fit. http://www.yosemite-motels.com/yosemiteviewlodge/index.htm. Altrenatively you could stay in the park at the Lodge but this works out more expensive. Better to spend your money on hotels in San Fran area. Checkout the Hotel Vitale in San Fran. Stayed in the Vitale near Mission - excellent. Check out the farmers market in San Fran down at Embarcadero, Alcatraz is a must see! Joe DiMaggios is a really good place to eat in Little Italy. Hire bikes at Fishermans Wharf and cycle across the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito - really worthwhile. We also travelled to San Diego, Monterey, Santa Barbara & Vegas. Vegas is amazing and a must do if your doing the Calfornia thing. Stayed in the Venetian hotel which was amazing! I would skip Monterey - not that much going on there! Enjoy!!!! :D
